A chorus of coughs greets everyone who walks into a North Texas urgent care center.
"I thought it was allergies at first," Christina Hester said. "It stayed for two weeks, and then I got a fever this morning, so I decided to come in."
Dr. William Thomas at Burleson Family Medical Center said people coming in have a little of everything -- allergies, strep throat, upper respiratory infections and plenty of flu cases.
"I wish people would have gotten their flu shots early, because the people who've gotten their flu shot this year, we've not seen them come back," he said.
Thomas said his clinic has had a busy couple of weeks. Patients say they aren't surprised when they have to wait a while to see a doctor.
"Oh yes; everyone I know is either starting to get sick or just got over something," said Micaela Cutler, a patient who was soon heading to the pharmacy to pick up Tamiflu. "I'm definitely not by myself here."
Thomas is prescribing people who are healthy and want to stay that way the usual -- "plenty of rest, plenty of fluids, wash your hands and get your flu shot."
