Officer Nicolas Ramirez, mugshot.
A Fort Worth police officer was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of drunken driving in Keller, police say.
Officer Nicolas Ramirez, 32, was stopped by Keller police near the 1200-block of state Highway 114 in Westlake at about 1:20 a.m.
Keller police said Ramirez blew .188, more than twice the legal limit - .08.
Fort Worth police said Ramirez, who since Aug., 2012 has been a DWI Enforcement Officer, has been placed on restricted duty status with his gun and badge confiscated pending the outcome of the investigation.
"Our organization works hard to keep our streets safe during all holidays. It is extremely troubling that one of our police officers, especially a DWI enforcement officer, has been arrested in this manner. I apologize to Chief Mark Hafner and the citizens of Keller for the poor judgment of our employee. Our residents can be assured that this matter will be handled expeditiously and to their expectations," said Fort Worth Chief of Police Jeffrey Halstead in a statement.
Ramirez, who has been with the department for four years, is expected to be charged with a Class A misdemeanor.
