Man, 22, Charged After Two HS Students Found Dead
Cullen Marino, 22, has been charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide. Kyle McNutt and Chase Nunez were found dead, from what appears to be an overdose, at Marino's Grapevine home Saturday morning.
A search affidavit from the Grapevine Police Department provides new details about what was discovered inside a home shortly after the bodies of two teens were found inside.
The document says officers "observed, in plain view, a clear baggie with powdery residue on the table beside the bed..." The document goes on to describe, in an adjacent room, a spoon believed to contain heroin residue and what appeared to be the makings of a mobile meth lab.
According to the affidavit, pipes and bongs for smoking marijuana, a small bottle of Xanax, white powder and an orange pill, a baggie containing possible marijuana and scales were all removed from the home.
That morning, Bob Marino called 911 and said "I might have two dead kids upstairs in my house."
Officers arrived a short time later and found the bodies of Carroll Senior High School students 17-year-old Kyle McNutt and 18-year-old Chase Nunez.
McNutt and Nunez had been hanging out with Marino's 22-year-old son Cullen the night before.
Cullen was arrested at the home on an unrelated warrant and later charged with criminally negligent homicide after police learned he moved the bodies of both teens to a different room in the house.
Police are now investigating what, if anything, Marino's father knew about the situation.
"It appears the son, Cullen, lived upstairs and dad pretty much stayed downstairs. So, you know, whether he didn't know what was going on or he just took a blind eye to it, we don't know," said Sgt. Robert Eberling with the Grapevine police.
Eberling said there could be more charges filed.
